Today, I wanted to take a look at Psalm 121, the chapter that gives us a beautiful picture of God being our help when we are going through challenging moments in our lives. So, let's take a look at the first two verses.

Psalm 121:1-2,

"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."

On our hard days, and yes, even on our happy, wonderful days, we should not look to created things, but to the Creator of all things for help. He is all we need. When we are hurt or going through grief, we can look to Jesus for joy, contentment, and help. The world promises materialistic fulfillment and short-lived happiness, while Jesus promises everlasting joy that comes from Him.

Psalm 121:3-4,

"He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep"

As believers, just as he was for the Israelites, God is always there for us. He is always awake and vigilant. He will never fail, so we shall never fall away from His saving grace. When we are afraid, we can have peace knowing that He is watching our steps, protecting us and preserving our salvation.

Psalm 121:5-8,

"The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."

During the trials and tribulations we go through in our lives, we can know that God is not only our comfort, our provider, our keeper in this life; but we as believers have the assurance that He will protect us from all evil and harm all the way into eternity. We need not look to this world for safety because Jesus is our safety now and forevermore. What peace, knowing that we are never walking this life, or the next, alone.

Come get your faith in 5.
